One of the largest barriers to successful, competitive, community employment is lack of transportation. Darden Rehabilitation Foundation is proud to offer Driver Safety Education to many of our consumers as a means to ensure their financial security and independence.
Darden Rehabilitation Foundation’s Driver Safety Education course has two components:
The classroom component of the program includes, but is not limited to, content regarding license requirements, traffic laws, responsible ownership, driving procedures and maneuvers, youthful drivers, physical and mental impairments, other highway users, and different driving environments. Successful completion of this component is the consumer earning an Alabama Learner License.
The driving component of the program teaches the fundamentals of safe and responsible driving. The consumer participates in actual hands-on driving experience in a vehicle under the supervision of our certified driver education instructors. Successful completion of this component is the consumer earning an Alabama Driver License.
