PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION SPECIALIST (PRE-ETS)/JOB DEVELOPER

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Work Experience in Human Services, Education, and/or Business
  • Work Experience with People with Disabilities

PROVIDE PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION SERVICES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

  • Communicate with School Personnel in Scheduling Pre-ETS Classes
  • Job Exploration Counseling
  • Work Based Learning Experiences
  • Workplace Readiness Training
  • Instruction on Self-Advocacy
  • Complete Pre-ETS Reports in a Timely Manner

JOB DEVELOPER DUTIES:

  • Assess consumer job readiness skills.  Teach appropriate application skills, interviewing skills, resume writing, proper dress, grooming and hygiene, orientation to wages, withholding and benefits, job seeking skills, job retention skills, dialogue about disability, capabilities, consumer’s preferences and necessary accommodations.
  • Assist consumers with obtaining employment IDs (driver’s license, birth certificate, and/or social security card).
  • Develop job leads.  Speak to employers, agencies, and other sources on behalf of the consumer to facilitate job placement opportunities. 
  • Complete the Consumer’s Job Preparation (Assessment) within two weeks of receipt of a referral.
  • Counsel with consumers and their family members to obtain support of employment efforts.
  • Learn job tasks required at job site.  Train the consumer on job safety and facilitate job site accommodations as necessary.
  • Job coach consumers at their place of employment when needed.
  • Train the consumer to self-advocate and solve problems.
  • Collaborate with the ADRS Counselor and team members in solving problems that impact consumer’s employment (i.e. transportation, child care needs, family problems, housing issues, appropriate response to authority, employer expectations, etc.)
  • Prepare monthly progress reports with a minimum of four contacts per month in a timely manner.
  • Maintain contact with the consumer and/or employer as frequently as needed to provide support, assess job performance/satisfaction, and to assist consumer in maintaining employment.
  • Maintain documentation in consumer files regarding referral information, services provision, and termination information which includes the Job Development, Change of Employment, and Employment Retention Reports in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff meetings, activities, community personnel/employment meetings and groups to insure current information regarding employment trends and labor market issues.
  • Maintain communication and cooperative relationship with all referral agencies to enhance service provision.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned
